The delegation included Mr. Wang Qiuwen, Channel Solutions Manager, and Ms. Fatima Hassan Mohammed, Partner Enablement Manager. They were received by Prof. Dr. Hikmat Najm Abdullah, Dean of the College, along with several faculty members.   The visit aimed to strengthen the partnership between the college and Huawei by providing a comprehensive training environment that enhances students’ skills and equips them with the expertise needed to keep pace with technological advancements in information and communication engineering.   The discussions also covered the possibility of signing a long-term cooperation agreement, through which Huawei would establish specialized training halls within the college. نظّمت كلية اقتصاديات الأعمال في جامعة النهرين، عبر شعبة ضمان الجودة وتقييم الأداء، ندوة علمية بعنوان “الجدوى الاقتصادية لمنظومات إنتاج الغاز الحيوي”، قدمتها الأستاذة الدكتورة نغم حسين نعمة، عميد الكلية، والأستاذ المساعد الدكتور رائد كاظم فاخر، رئيس قسم الطاقة الشمسية في مركز بحوث النهرين للطاقة المتجددة، وأدارتها المدرس الدكتورة اعتصام جابر، مدير شعبة ضمان الجودة في الكلية. ناقشت الندوة الأبعاد الاقتصادية والتكنولوجية لمنظومات إنتاج الغاز الحيوي، وأهمية تكاملها مع القطاعات الزراعية والصناعية لتحقيق الاستدامة. كما تناولت تحليل تكاليف إنشاء وتشغيل هذه المنظومات مقارنة بالعائدات المتوقعة، وأهمية تبنّي تقنيات متطورة تعزز كفاءة الإنتاج، إضافةً إلى دراسة أثر هذه المشروعات على البيئة ودورها في تقليل الانبعاثات الكربونية. وخلصت الندوة إلى عدة توصيات، أبرزها ضرورة دعم الحكومة لهذه المنظومات من خلال سياسات مشجعة، مثل الحوافز المالية والإعفاءات الضريبية، وتشجيع الشراكات بين القطاعين العام والخاص لتعزيز الاستثمار. كما أكدت على أهمية تنظيم ورش عمل ودورات تدريبية لزيادة الوعي بفوائد الغاز الحيوي وآليات استخدامه، وإجراء دراسات جدوى شاملة تراعي الأبعاد الاقتصادية والبيئية والاجتماعية لضمان نجاح هذه المشاريع وتحقيق فوائد مستدامة للمجتمع. قسم الإعلام والاتصال الحكومي رئاسة جامعة النهرين College of Business Economics at Al-Nahrain University Discusses the Economic Feasibility of Biogas Production Systems The College of Business Economics at Al-Nahrain University, through the Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Division, organized a scientific symposium titled “The Economic Feasibility of Biogas Production Systems.” The symposium was presented by Prof. Dr. Nagham Hussein Ne’ma, Dean of the College, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Raed Kazem Fakher, Head of the Solar Energy Department at the Al-Nahrain Center for Renewable Energy Research, and was moderated by Lecturer Dr. I’tisam Jaber, Director of the Quality Assurance Division at the college. The symposium explored the economic and technological aspects of biogas production systems and their integration with the agricultural and industrial sectors to achieve sustainability. Discussions included an analysis of the costs associated with establishing and operating these systems compared to expected revenues, the adoption of advanced technologies to enhance production efficiency, and the environmental impact of such projects in reducing carbon emissions. The symposium concluded with several key recommendations, most notably the need for government support through incentive policies, such as financial subsidies and tax exemptions, as well as promoting public-private partnerships to boost investment. It also emphasized the importance of organizing workshops and training programs to raise awareness about the benefits of biogas and its applications and conducting comprehensive feasibility studies that consider economic, environmental, and social factors to ensure the success of these projects and their sustainable benefits to society.   نشر فريق بحثي دولي، بقيادة الأستاذ المساعد الدكتور علي مجيد حسن من كلية الطب في جامعة النهرين، وبالتعاون مع باحثين من مؤسسات علمية عالمية، بحثًا علميًا بعنوان: “Discrimination of Invasive Ductal and Lobular Carcinoma of the Breast Based on the Combination of Enhanced Legendre Polynomial, Kinetic Features, and Deep Learning Features” في مجلة Biomedical Signal Processing and Control ذات التصنيف العالي، والمفهرسة ضمن الربع الأول في قواعد بيانات Scopus وWeb of Science.   يُعد هذا البحث إنجازًا علميًا متميزًا، حيث يهدف إلى استخدام نموذج ذكاء اصطناعي متطور لتشخيص وتصنيف أورام الثدي إلى نوعي invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) وinvasive lobular carcinoma (ILC)، وذلك بالاعتماد على تقنية التصوير بالرنين المغناطيسي المحسن بالتباين (DCE-MRI). وقد أسفرت النتائج عن تطوير خوارزمية جديدة تحقق دقة عالية جدًا في تصنيف الأورام، مما يمثل خطوة متقدمة في تحسين دقة تشخيص سرطان الثدي وتعزيز سبل الوقاية منه.   ضم الفريق البحثي باحثين من جامعة النهرين، وجامعة العين، وجامعة ديربي في المملكة المتحدة، حيث يعكس هذا الإنجاز أهمية التعاون العلمي الدولي في تطوير حلول مبتكرة تسهم في مكافحة الأمراض، وتحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة من خلال تحسين جودة الرعاية الصحية وتعزيز سبل الوقاية والعلاج.   قسم الاعلام والاتصال الحكومي  رئاسة جامعة النهرين     Al-Nahrain University Leads an International Research Team to Develop an AI Model for Breast Cancer Classification and Detection Using DCE-MRI Technology   An international research team, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Majid Hassan from the College of Medicine at Al-Nahrain University, in collaboration with researchers from global academic institutions, has published a scientific study titled:   “Discrimination of Invasive Ductal and Lobular Carcinoma of the Breast Based on the Combination of Enhanced Legendre Polynomial, Kinetic Features, and Deep Learning Features”   The study was published in the highly ranked journal Biomedical Signal Processing and Control, which is indexed in the first quartile (Q1) of Scopus and Web of Science databases.   This research represents a significant scientific achievement, aiming to utilize an advanced artificial intelligence model to diagnose and classify breast tumors into invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) and invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) using dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) technology. The results led to the development of a novel algorithm that achieves exceptionally high accuracy in tumor classification, marking a major advancement in improving breast cancer diagnosis accuracy and enhancing prevention strategies.   The research team included experts from Al-Nahrain University, Al-Ain University, and the University of Derby (UK), reflecting the importance of international scientific collaboration in developing innovative solutions to combat diseases.   برعاية السيد رئيس جامعة النهرين الأستاذ الدكتور علي عبد العزيز الشاوي، وإشراف عميد الكلية الأستاذ الدكتور محسن هاشم رسن، أقامت كلية التقنيات الأحيائية بجامعة النهرين الملتقى العلمي الثاني تحت عنوان “تقويم المسيرة التعليمية في كلية التقنيات الأحيائية: الواقع والطموح”، بحضور السيد مساعد رئيس الجامعة للشؤون الإدارية الأستاذ الدكتور علاء حسين عبد، ورؤساء الاقسام والوحدات وعدد من التدريسيين في الكلية.   هدف الملتقى إلى مراجعة وتقويم المسيرة التعليمية في الكلية، وتسليط الضوء على التحديات التي تواجه البيئة الأكاديمية، بالإضافة إلى وضع رؤى تطويرية لتحقيق الطموحات المستقبلية بما يتماشى مع معايير الجودة الأكاديمية الحديثة.   وتناول الملتقى عدة محاور رئيسية، منها تقييم البيئة التعليمية الحالية، وتعزيز ثقافة التقييم الأكاديمي كوسيلة للتطوير، وتشجيع البحث العلمي التطبيقي. كما شهد الملتقى مناقشة الأفكار والمقترحات التي تسهم في تحسين العملية التعليمية، بمشاركة واسعة من أعضاء الهيئة التدريسية والطلبة.   وفي تصريح خاص، أكد عميد الكلية الأستاذ الدكتور محسن هاشم رسن أن الملتقى يمثل خطوة جوهرية نحو تعزيز البيئة الأكاديمية في الكلية، موضحًا أن الهدف من الملتقى هو تسليط الضوء على التحديات التعليمية ومناقشة الحلول التطويرية التي تسهم في تحقيق التميز الأكاديمي. وأضاف أن الكلية تسعى من خلال هذه المبادرات إلى مواكبة المستجدات الحديثة في التعليم العالي ودعم الإبداع الأكاديمي للطلبة والتدريسيين.   ويُعد هذا الملتقى جزءًا من جهود الكلية لتعزيز التميز الأكاديمي ودعم النهوض بقطاع التعليم العالي في العراق.   قسم الإعلام والاتصال الحكومي  رئاسة جامعة النهرين     The College of Biotechnology at Al-Nahrain University Holds the Second Scientific Forum to Evaluate the Educational Journey   Under the patronage of the President of Al-Nahrain University, Professor Dr. Ali Abdulaziz Al-Shawi, and the supervision of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Muhsin Hashem Rasan, the College of Biotechnology at Al-Nahrain University held its second scientific forum under the title “Evaluating the Educational Journey at the College of Biotechnology: Reality and Ambition”, with the attendance of the University Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Alaa Hussein Abdul, heads of departments and units, and several faculty members.   The forum aimed to review and evaluate the educational journey in the college, highlight the challenges facing the academic environment, and establish developmental visions to achieve future aspirations in line with modern academic quality standards.   The forum addressed several key themes, including evaluating the current educational environment, promoting a culture of academic evaluation as a tool for development, and encouraging applied scientific research. The event also witnessed a wide range of discussions on ideas and proposals to improve the educational process, with active participation from faculty members and students.   In a special statement, the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Muhsin Hashem Rasan, emphasized that the forum represents a pivotal step toward enhancing the academic environment at the college. He explained that the forum’s objective is to shed light on educational challenges and discuss developmental solutions to achieve academic excellence.   نشر الأستاذ الدكتور هيثم محمود كاظم، رئيس فرع الأدوية والسموم في كلية الصيدلة بجامعة النهرين، بحثاً علمياً في مجلة Toxicology Reports التي تصدر عن دار النشر العالمية Elsevier. تناول البحث التأثيرات الوقائية للجزء الغني بالبوليفينول من مستخلص نبات Cnicus benedictus (الشوك المبارك) ضد التليف الكبدي الناتج عن التعرض لمادة الكربون رباعي الكلور (CCl4) في الفئران، مع تسليط الضوء على الخصائص المضادة للأكسدة والالتهابات لهذا المستخلص النباتي.   هدف البحث إلى تقييم فعالية المركبات النشطة في مستخلص الشوك المبارك في التخفيف من تأثيرات التليف الكبدي، حيث تم تحليل تركيبته الكيميائية باستخدام تقنية HPLC. وأظهرت النتائج احتواء المستخلص على مركبات بوليفينولية فعالة، مثل الكيرسيتين، الروتين، حمض الجاليك، الكايمبفيرول، والأبيجينين. كما تناولت الدراسة تأثير المستخلص على تقليل الإجهاد التأكسدي من خلال رفع مستويات الجلوتاثيون (GSH) وخفض المالونديهايد (MDA) في أنسجة الكبد.   وأظهرت النتائج قدرة المستخلص على تقليل الالتهابات من خلال تقليل التعبير الجيني لعوامل التليف مثل TGF-β1 وα-SMA. كما أسفرت الدراسة عن تحسين ملحوظ في البنية النسيجية للكبد وتقليل التليف في المجموعات المعالجة بالمستخلص مقارنة بالمجموعات المصابة.   تعد هذه الدراسة خطوة مهمة في استكشاف الفوائد الطبية لمستخلص الشوك المبارك، مما يفتح آفاقاً جديدة لاستخدامه كعلاج وقائي في مجال أمراض الكبد.   قسم الإعلام والاتصال الحكومي رئاسة جامعة النهرين      Faculty Member from Al-Nahrain University Publishes Study on the Protective Effects of Blessed Thistle Extract Against Liver Fibrosis   Professor Dr. Haitham Mahmoud Kazem, Head of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the College of Pharmacy, Al-Nahrain University, has published a scientific study in the Toxicology Reports journal, issued by the global publisher Elsevier. The study explored the protective effects of the polyphenol-rich fraction of Cnicus benedictus (Blessed Thistle) extract against liver fibrosis induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) in mice, with a focus on the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of this plant extract.   The study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of active compounds in Blessed Thistle extract in mitigating the effects of liver fibrosis. The chemical composition of the extract was analyzed using HPLC, revealing the presence of active polyphenolic compounds such as quercetin, rutin, gallic acid, kaempferol, and apigenin. The research also examined the extract’s ability to reduce oxidative stress by increasing glutathione (GSH) levels and decreasing malondialdehyde (MDA) levels in liver tissues.   The findings demonstrated the extract’s potential to reduce inflammation by downregulating the expression of fibrotic markers such as TGF-β1 and α-SMA. The study also showed significant improvement in liver tissue structure and reduced fibrosis in the groups treated with the extract compared to the affected groups.   This study represents an important step in exploring the medicinal benefits of Blessed Thistle extract, paving the way for its potential use as a preventive treatment in liver diseases.   Department of Media and Government Communication Al-Nahrain University Presidency

  نظم قسم الرقابة المحاسبية والمالية في كلية اقتصاديات الأعمال بجامعة النهرين ندوة علمية بعنوان “السياسة الجنائية المعاصرة لمكافحة جرائم المخدرات ومدى تأثيرها على المجتمع العراقي”، بحضور نخبة من الأساتذة والطلبة. قدم الندوة المقدم الحقوقي محمد محسن عبد العالي والأستاذ المساعد الدكتورة منى كامل حمد، حيث تناولت التحديات التي يواجهها العراق في مكافحة جرائم المخدرات وتأثيرها على الأمن المجتمعي، إلى جانب استعراض سبل تطوير الاستراتيجيات الجنائية لمواجهتها.   هدفت الندوة إلى تسليط الضوء على القوانين والسياسات العراقية لمكافحة المخدرات، مع التركيز على أبرز التحديات القانونية والاجتماعية التي تعيق عمل الجهات المعنية. كما سعت إلى تعزيز الوعي بمخاطر المخدرات من خلال تحليل دور التشريعات في الحد من انتشار هذه الظاهرة، ومناقشة آليات التعاون بين المؤسسات الحكومية والمجتمع المدني في مكافحتها.   وأوصت الندوة بضرورة تحديث القوانين المتعلقة بمكافحة المخدرات لتكون أكثر فاعلية في مواجهة التحديات الراهنة، مع تشديد العقوبات على المهربين والمروجين، وتوفير برامج تأهيل للمدمنين. كما أكدت على أهمية تنسيق الجهود بين وزارة الداخلية ووزارة الصحة والجهات القضائية لتعزيز الاستجابة المشتركة، إلى جانب إطلاق برامج توعية مجتمعية من خلال حملات تثقيفية تستهدف الشباب وطلبة المدارس.   كما دعت الندوة إلى إنشاء مراكز متخصصة لإعادة تأهيل المدمنين نفسياً واجتماعياً، وتشجيع البحوث العلمية لفهم ديناميكيات تعاطي المخدرات وآثارها على المجتمع. وأخيراً، شددت التوصيات على أهمية إشراك منظمات المجتمع المدني في جهود الوقاية والعلاج، بهدف تعزيز سلامة المجتمع العراقي وحمايته من هذه الآفة.   قسم الإعلام والاتصال الحكومي رئاسة جامعة النهرين      The College of Business Economics Organizes a Seminar on Contemporary Criminal Policies to Combat Drug Crimes   The Department of Accounting and Financial Auditing at the College of Business Economics, Al-Nahrain University, organized a scientific seminar titled “Contemporary Criminal Policies to Combat Drug Crimes and Their Impact on Iraqi Society”. The event was attended by a group of professors and students and was presented by Legal Officer Lt. Col. Muhammad Mohsen Abdul Aali and Assistant Professor Dr. Muna Kamel Hamad. The seminar addressed the challenges Iraq faces in combating drug crimes, their impact on societal security, and ways to develop criminal strategies to counter these issues.   The seminar aimed to shed light on the laws and policies in place in Iraq to combat drug crimes, identifying key legal and social challenges facing the relevant authorities. It also sought to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs by analyzing the role of legislation in curbing this phenomenon and discussing mechanisms for collaboration between government institutions and civil society in combating it.   The seminar recommended updating drug-related laws to make them more effective in addressing current challenges, tightening penalties against traffickers and promoters, and providing rehabilitation programs for addicts. It emphasized the importance of coordinating efforts between the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health, and judicial authorities to enhance joint responses. It also highlighted the need for community awareness programs through educational campaigns targeting vulnerable groups, such as youth and school students.   Additionally, the seminar called for establishing specialized centers for the psychological and social rehabilitation of addicts and encouraged scientific research to understand the dynamics of drug abuse and its effects on society. This initiative is part of the department’s extracurricular activities aimed at enhancing students’ skills.   The course aimed to provide students with essential knowledge and skills in designing and assembling electronic circuits and controlling them using Arduino microcontrollers.   نظم مركز بحوث التقنيات الأحيائية في جامعة النهرين ورشة علمية بعنوان “تقنيات تحليل التعاقب الجيني NGS للكشف عن العناصر الوراثية المتنقلة في البكتيريا”، والتي ركزت على أحدث التطورات في تحليل التسلسل الجيني وتقنيات التشخيص الوراثي المتقدمة.   سلطت الورشة الضوء على دور تقنية NGS في دراسة الانتقال العرضي للمواد الوراثية بين الكائنات الحية، خاصة البكتيريا، مع استعراض أحدث التطبيقات العلمية و البرمجيات المتطورة المستخدمة في تحليل البيانات الجينية. كما ناقشت الورشة أهمية توظيف التحليل البيولوجي المعلوماتي (Bioinformatics) في فهم وتحليل التسلسل الوراثي للكائنات الحية الدقيقة.   وأوصت الورشة بضرورة مواكبة التطورات السريعة في مجال التشخيص الوراثي، والاعتماد على أحدث التقنيات البيولوجية و البرمجيات المتقدمة لتعزيز البحث العلمي وتطوير حلول جديدة في مجال الهندسة الوراثية و التقنيات الأحيائية.   قسم الإعلام والاتصال الحكومي رئاسة جامعة النهرين     Biotechnology Research Center at Al-Nahrain University Organizes a Scientific Workshop on Modern Genetic Analysis Techniques   The Biotechnology Research Center at Al-Nahrain University organized a scientific workshop titled “NGS Sequencing Techniques for Detecting Mobile Genetic Elements in Bacteria,” focusing on the latest developments in genetic sequencing analysis and advanced genetic diagnostic techniques.   The workshop highlighted the role of NGS technology in studying the horizontal transfer of genetic material between living organisms, particularly bacteria, and reviewed the latest scientific applications and advanced software used in genetic data analysis.   ناقشت كلية التقنيات الأحيائية في جامعة النهرين رسالة ماجستير بعنوان “دراسة تأثير الجسيمات النانوية الخضراء على عوامل الضراوة لبكتيريا Pseudomonas aeruginosa المعزولة من عينات سريرية”، للطالب علي سعدون مهلهل.   ركزت الدراسة على إمكانية استخدام الجسيمات النانوية الخضراء المصنّعة باستخدام مستخلصات نباتية كبديل مستدام لمكافحة البكتيريا المقاومة للمضادات الحيوية.   وهدفت الدراسة إلى استخدام تقنية تفاعل البوليميراز المتسلسل (PCR) للكشف عن جينات الضراوة lptD وlptE المرتبطة بمقاومة المضادات الحيوية، حيث أظهرت النتائج أن 48 عزلة بكتيرية تحمل جين lptD، بينما حملت 8 عزلات فقط جين lptE. كما بينت النتائج أن الجسيمات النانوية الخضراء تمتلك نشاطًا مضادًا قويًا ضد العزلات البكتيرية، حيث بلغ الحد الأدنى للتركيز المثبط (MIC) لها 3.25 ملغم/مل.   وخلصت الدراسة إلى أن الجسيمات النانوية الخضراء المصنّعة باستخدام مستخلصات نباتية تمثل حلاً بيئيًا مستدامًا وفعالًا في مقاومة البكتيريا المقاومة للمضادات الحيوية. وأوصت الدراسة بإجراء بحوث مستقبلية لتوسيع نطاق التجارب السريرية، والتحقق من أمان وفعالية هذه الجسيمات على نطاق أوسع، بما يسهم في تطوير علاجات مبتكرة لمكافحة العدوى البكتيرية المقاومة.   قسم الإعلام والاتصال الحكومي رئاسة جامعة النهرين     Master’s Thesis at Al-Nahrain University Discusses the Effect of Green Nanoparticles on Bacteria   The College of Biotechnology at Al-Nahrain University discussed a master’s thesis titled “Study of the Effect of Green Nanoparticles on the Virulence Factors of Pseudomonas aeruginosa Isolated from Clinical Samples,” presented by the student Ali Saadoun Muhalhal.   The study focused on the potential use of green nanoparticles synthesized using plant extracts as a sustainable alternative to combat antibiotic-resistant bacteria.   The research aimed to utilize the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technique to detect the virulence genes lptD and lptE, which are associated with antibiotic resistance. The results showed that 48 bacterial isolates carried the lptD gene, while only 8 isolates carried the lptE gene. The findings also indicated that the green nanoparticles exhibited strong antibacterial activity against the bacterial isolates, with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 3.25 mg/ml.   The study concluded that green nanoparticles synthesized using plant extracts represent an environmentally sustainable and effective solution for combating antibiotic-resistant bacteria. It recommended conducting further research to expand clinical trials and verify the safety and effectiveness of these nanoparticles on a larger scale, contributing to the development of innovative treatments for resistant bacterial infections.   Department of Media and Government Communication Al-Nahrain University Presidency

The seminar also aimed to raise health awareness and present preventive and therapeutic solutions to limit its spread.   The seminar was attended by the Director General of the Center, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Mahmoud Farhan, and was chaired by Prof. Dr. Hassan Mohammed Naif from Al-Shaab University. The event featured contributions from Asst. Prof. Dr. Marwan Maytham Mohammed from the University of Basrah, with Asst. Prof. Dr. Ghaidaa Hussein serving as the seminar rapporteur.   Specialized lectures were also delivered by Asst. Lecturer Abdul Ameer Jawad and Asst.   ناقشت كلية العلوم بجامعة النهرين، قسم الكيمياء، أطروحة الدكتوراه للطالبة سهام علوان شكر، بعنوان “استخلاص بعض العناصر الثقيلة باستخدام بوليمر محوّر بتقنيات كيميائية”، حيث ركزت الدراسة على تطوير طرق جديدة لمعالجة التلوث البيئي عبر البوليمرات المتقدمة.   هدفت الدراسة إلى تحضير بوليمرات محورة من خلال تفاعل بوليمر الميثيل مع مركبات أمينية بالتكثيف، مما أدى إلى إنتاج مواد ذات خصائص فيزيائية وكيميائية مميزة، هذا وخضعت هذه البوليمرات لاختبارات تشخيص علمية باستخدام تقنيات متقدمة، ثم تم استخدامها كمادة مازّة لإزالة العناصر الثقيلة من المحاليل المائية، والتي تعد من أبرز الملوثات البيئية الخطرة.   أظهرت النتائج أن البوليمرات المحورة تمتلك كفاءة عالية في امتصاص وإزالة أيونات المعادن الثقيلة، مما يشير إلى إمكانية توظيف هذه التقنية في الحد من التلوث البيئي الناجم عن المخلفات الصناعية، لاسيما في المناطق القريبة من المعامل ومحطات توليد الطاقة، وأوصت الدراسة بتطوير هذه التقنية مستقبلاً لتعزيز فعاليتها في معالجة المياه الملوثة وتحسين الاستدامة البيئية.   قسم الاعلام والاتصال الحكومي  رئاسة جامعة النهرين      Al-Nahrain University’s College of Science Explores Innovative Techniques for Heavy Metal Extraction Using Modified Polymers   The Department of Chemistry at the College of Science, Al-Nahrain University, discussed the Ph.D. dissertation of the student Siham Alwan Shukur, titled “Extraction of Some Heavy Metals Using Chemically Modified Polymers.” The study focused on developing new methods to address environmental pollution through advanced polymer technology.   The research aimed to synthesize modified polymers by reacting methyl polymer with amine compounds through condensation processes, resulting in materials with distinctive physical and chemical properties. These polymers were subjected to advanced scientific diagnostic tests and were subsequently used as adsorbents to remove heavy metals from aqueous solutions, which are considered among the most hazardous environmental pollutants.   The results demonstrated that the modified polymers exhibit high efficiency in absorbing and removing heavy metal ions, highlighting their potential for mitigating environmental pollution caused by industrial waste, especially in areas near factories and power plants. The workshop was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Thamer Salem, the Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs.   The workshop aimed to enhance scientific understanding of enzyme applications in organic synthesis and highlight their role in producing more sustainable and efficient pharmaceutical compounds. This initiative is part of the college’s ongoing efforts to support scientific research and develop academic skills among researchers and students.   The workshop included discussions covering an introduction to enzymes and their significance in biological and industrial processes, with a focus on the types of enzymes used in organic synthesis and their benefits as environmentally friendly catalysts compared to conventional chemical methods.
